About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join our Social Work and Community Support team.
This is a key leadership role where you will combine expert social work practice with supervision, service development, and partnership working. You will support individuals and carers facing complex challenges such as ageing, mental health needs, disability, dementia, and social isolation-while also guiding and developing colleagues.
You will play a vital role in triaging referrals, assessing risk and urgency, and ensuring timely, high quality interventions. You'll also contribute to shaping services, strengthening multi-agency relationships, and ensuring best practice across the team.
This post is working 18 hours per week.
This is a hybrid role, with at least 40% of your time based in one of our community settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a complex caseload of approximately 35 cases (FTE)
* Provide high quality assessments, care planning, and safeguarding interventions
* Support triage of referrals, assessing urgency, risk, and appropriate responses
* Deliver expert advice on safeguarding, mental capacity, and legislation
* Supervise and support Social Workers, students, and volunteers
* Work with senior leadership to develop and continuously improve services
* Lead and promote multidisciplinary and multi-agency collaboration
* Build strong networks across statutory, voluntary, and community services
* Support colleagues to identify services that promote independence, choice, and dignity
* Ensure timely and accurate recording of all interventions on the CRM system
* Contribute to practice development and innovation within the team
* Represent Jewish Care in professional forums and community settings
* Maintain an up to date CPD portfolio and support others in their development
About You
We are looking for a confident, reflective, and experienced Social Worker who is ready to take on a leadership role and support high quality practice across the team.
Essential
* Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England
* Significant experience working with adults in a social care setting
* Experience of supervising or mentoring Social Workers, students, or volunteers
* Strong knowledge of Safeguarding, the Care Act (2014), and the Mental Capacity Act (2005)
* Experience supporting people with mental health needs, disability, dementia, or complex needs
* Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and make sound, evidence based decisions
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Ability to promote professional standards, reflective practice, and continuous improvement
* Confidence working within a multi-disciplinary and multi agency environment
* Commitment to learning about and engaging with the Jewish community and culture
Desirable
* Qualification in Practice Education
* AMHP or BIA qualification
* Experience within the voluntary sector
* Knowledge of the social welfare system and benefits
* Understanding of the Holocaust survivor community and related needs
* Awareness of Claims Conference processes
* UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
