Job Duties
The Talent Acquisition Specialist provides support throughout the recruitment process for positions at VDEM’s headquarters, Emergency Operations Center, and regional offices. This role assists with posting positions, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates and hiring managers. The Talent Acquisition Specialist helps ensure that recruitment activities follow agency procedures, state policies, and applicable laws. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to provide responsive support to hiring managers and candidates throughout the hiring process.
Minimum Qualifications
• Basic knowledge of recruitment and selection practices, including job postings, applicant screening, and interview coordination.
• General understanding of human resources policies and employment regulations related to hiring, or the ability to learn quickly.
• Skill in reviewing applications against minimum qualifications and identifying candidates for referral.
• Ability to clearly and professionally communicate recruitment information in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work with applicant tracking systems and maintain accurate recruitment records.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple job postings, timelines, and administrative tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a recruitment team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of applicant and personnel information.
• Basic problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify issues and seek guidance from senior HR team members when needed.
• Ability to follow established recruitment guidelines, checklists, and procedures consistently.
• Willingness to learn new recruitment methods, sourcing tools, and process improvements to support hiring needs.
Additional Considerations
• Proficiency with the PageUp recruitment system.
• Prior experience in state government or the public sector.
