Construction Instructor Location: Hull, Kingston upon Hull Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 (Can be discussed) Contract: Full Time Term Time Only – Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30 Start Date: January 2026 GSL Education is working in partnership with a specialist provision in Hull to recruit a full-time Construction Instructor for a January 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson who is passionate about passing on their practical skills and knowledge to the next generation. If you have industry experience but no formal teaching qualification, we still encourage you to apply. The provision delivers hands-on vocational education to learners with ASC and SLD aged 14–19 who thrive in practical, supportive environments. About the Role as a Construction Instructor: Deliver engaging, practical lessons across construction trades such as carpentry, joinery, bricklaying, and general building skills. Support learners in achieving Level 1 and Level 2 vocational qualifications. Promote a positive, safe, and structured workshop environment. Encourage teamwork, independence, and resilience in every student. Work collaboratively with vocational tutors, support staff, and SEN teams to meet individual learning needs. Candidate Requirements: Background in construction, carpentry, bricklaying, or a related trade (Level 2/3 qualification desirable). Experience teaching, training, or mentoring young people is advantageous but not essential. Strong communication and organisational skills with a practical, hands-on approach. Patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting learners with additional needs. A sound understanding of safeguarding and a learner-centred ethos.
