Salary: Grade 9 – £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Working Hours: 5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

Contract Type: Fixed term for 1 Academic Year

About the Role

Leicestershire Music is looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Cello Teacher to join our team of dedicated instrumental tutors.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who believes in creating inspiring musical journeys for young people — from their very first note to confident ensemble performances.

We are seeking a cello teacher will deliver high-quality cello tuition to children and young people across Leicester and Leicestershire, supporting learners to develop strong musical foundations, technical skills, confidence and a lifelong love of music.

You will also contribute to the wider musical life of the service through ensemble involvement, events and performance opportunities.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

4. Qualification or experience demonstrating a high level of musical understanding, awareness and proficiency in your area of specialism (. music technology, instrumental etc); Experience of performing, creating or facilitating music at a high-level
5. Inspiring and motivational, with the ability to build confidence and enthusiasm in learners
6. Passionate about ensemble music-making and developing young musicians in group settings
7. Forward-thinking and adaptable, committed to high-quality, inclusive music education
8. Experience of developing and adapting resources to respond to learners’ interest and needs and offers a level of challenge and independence appropriate to age, ability, capacity and context
9. Skilled in teaching beginners through to developing players, supporting clear progression; Organised, reliable, and an excellent communicator with students, families and colleagues
10. The ability to work for 2 hours on Saturday mornings teaching pupils and supporting our ensembles and music-making programmes; The ability to teach beginner Double Bass, and the availability to teach Monday evenings would be advantageous.

In addition, we also expect you to share and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.
