We’re currently looking for a Mechanical Craft Team Member to join our Tooling Department at our Corby site. This is a practical, hands-on role where you’ll be part of a team that keeps our essential equipment in top condition – playing a vital part in helping us produce steel that’s used across the UK and beyond. What You’ll Do You’ll work primarily in the Roll Stand Refurbishment Team, helping to keep our mill equipment in good working order. This work is physically demanding and involves working in a tough environment where grease, scale, and dust are part of the daily challenge. Your duties will include stripping down, inspecting, and rebuilding roll stands to agreed standards, often against tight deadlines. You’ll be working from technical drawings to replace or repair parts, fitting bearings and gears using tools like induction heaters and presses. You may also support other teams within the department and help move equipment and spares around site. You’ll be expected to take pride in your work, keeping your area clean and tidy and always looking for ways to improve how things are done. Most importantly, you’ll carry out every task with safety at the forefront – following site rules and making sure you and those around you go home safe each day. This role works on a 4-week rotating day-shift pattern, including three weekends out of every four, with rest days during the week. What you will need: We’re looking for someone who brings both technical skill and a practical, team-focused approach. You’ll need: A time-served apprenticeship and an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds qualification, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Solid experience with mechanical fitting, including bearings and gear fitting using induction heaters and presses A valid driving licence Awareness of COSHH regulations and safe handling of substances A strong commitment to safe systems of work A good attitude to teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement It would also be an advantage (but not essential) to have: Experience operating a forklift truck up to 2 tonnes Experience using an overhead crane up to 10 tonnes Ready to make a difference?
