Physiotherapy Assistant

The closing date is 29 December 2025

We are looking for motivated, caring individuals with excellent communication skills to work within our dynamic in-patient Physiotherapy team to deliver a high quality service to patients on general medical wards.


Main duties of the job

* To undertake specific support work to aid with the rehabilitation and mobility of patients.
* To treat patients (often unsupervised) according to set treatment protocols and individual treatment programmes as identified by a physiotherapist.
* Work with direct and indirect supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing physiotherapist of any problems.
* To assist in the general administration and equipment needs of the physiotherapy department autonomously

Important Notice on Visa Sponsorship Eligibility

Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Health and Care Worker visa route. This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 per annum and/or the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* G.C.S.E's or equivalent including A- C and above in English Language and Maths
* NVQ level II or equivalent


Experience

* Previous experience in caring for patients in a hospital or care setting
* An understanding of social impacts on patient journeys
* Previous experience working within a therapy team


Skills

* Ability to deal with general public including those with communication/language barriers
* Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team
* Demonstrate ability to communicate with patient's wide range of personalities including those with impaired communication abilities
* Able to demonstrate empathy, motivate and persuade all patients including those with impaired cognitive abilities or physical senses
* Demonstrate good organisational skills
* Able to handle sensitive/confidential issues
* Fitness to undertake the duties of the post
* Experience of providing physiotherapy interventions to patients
