They are encouraged to form meaningful connections with both teaching and therapeutic staff.\n\n * The school is part of the Western Learning Federation and is passionate about improving the education and quality of life of pupils aged 3–19, who have a wide range of learning needs.\n\nJob Role Summary\n\nWe are seeking an enthusiastic teacher to take on a TLR2 leadership role, with responsibility for the strategic development of Maths and Numeracy across the school.
This role is pivotal in raising standards and embedding high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Numeracy+ Framework, tailored to meet the diverse and complex needs of our pupils aged 3–19 with a wide range of learning difficulties.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to drive forward innovative and inclusive numeracy practices.\n\n * Lead on curriculum development, assessment, and intervention planning, ensuring numeracy is meaningfully embedded across the curriculum and supports pupils’ functional and lifelong learning\n\n * Monitor and evaluate the impact of numeracy provision across key stages.\n\n * Provide coaching and CPD to colleagues to build whole-school capacity in Maths\n\n * Liaise with leadership and therapeutic teams to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to numeracy development\n\nQualifications & Skills Required\n\n * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): achieved through a PGCE or BA/BSc with QTS,\n\n * Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - Especially in relation to curriculum development, numeracy, SEN (Special Educational Needs), and leadership.\n\n * Experience of teaching Maths and/or Numeracy across relevant key stages.\n\n * A strong understanding of working with pupils with ALN/SEN (Additional Learning Needs/Special Educational Needs), especially in a special school setting.\n\n * Familiarity with or willingness to adopt and embed the Numeracy+ Framework into school planning and delivery.\n\n * Strong interpersonal and coaching skills to support and develop colleagues.\n\n * Effective use of assessment data to inform teaching, planning, and intervention\n\nWorking Conditions\n\n * Term-time only (plus additional days for preparation).\n\n * Typical hours: 08.30-15.30
