Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an oncoplastic breast surgeon to join a large team at the Nightingale Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the Manchester Breast Service – the largest breast service in the UK.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a high‑quality diagnostic and treatment service to patients with benign and malignant breast disease as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver modern oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery to patients.
* Contribute to the National Breast Implant Registry and other relevant audits/registries.
* Participate in the Breast Unit non‑resident on‑call rota (1 week in 14, no General Surgery on‑call).
* Recruit patients to high‑quality clinical trials, with GCP training provided.
* Provide teaching and training to undergraduate students, junior doctors, advanced clinical practitioners and other health professionals.
* Engage in service improvement and innovation, and be willing to take on additional professional responsibilities.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* Full registration with the GMC.
* FRCS or equivalent.
* CCT General Surgery (or Plastic Surgery with a TIG fellowship).
* MD, PhD, MSc.
Experience
* Wide experience in all aspects of breast disease management.
* Experience in oncoplastic breast surgery (evidenced by surgical logbook).
* Experience in robotic surgery.
* Unsupervised experience in oncoplastic breast surgery.
Skills
* Evidence of a broad breast surgical experience via logbook.
* Evidence of a quality‑improvement project.
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
* Other relevant oncoplastic breast courses.
* Evidence of research publications.
