Senior Mental Health Support Worker - Papist
Location: Papist Way, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, England
Salary: £27,560 - £30,680 per annum (salaries vary depending on experience). Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays; shifts include mornings, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead shifts, delegate tasks and manage daily operations within Papist Way, home to 10 residents with acute mental health needs.
* Provide person-centred support to clients with serious mental illness, including adults with primary psychotic diagnoses and coexisting physical health issues, neurodiversity, drugs & alcohol use, and cognitive impairment.
* Medication management, incident management, and health and safety monitoring of the project and residents.
* Mentor support workers, lead by example, and manage your own caseload.
* Respond to service phone queries and requests from internal and external customers, delegating as appropriate.
* Undertake assessments of referrals and participate in regular risk assessment training.
* Provide emotional support, practical assistance with daily living activities, and support with activities such as shopping, budgeting, transport, education, employment and life-skills (e.g., cooking, maintaining accommodation).
* Ensure risk is continually assessed and risk management plans are kept up to date.
* Comply with safeguarding policies and procedures for Adults and Children and Young People; maintain professional boundaries and promote equal opportunities.
* Represent the company professionally, including punctuality and appearance; foster a One Team Approach.
The Successful Applicant
Essential criteria:
* GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Commitment to continual personal development.
* Detailed understanding of mental health and wellbeing challenges and the level of care required by residents.
* Understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
* Knowledge of how to support referrals and assessments.
* Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues impacting people’s lives.
* IT literate with experience using MS Office.
* Previous related work experience.
* Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
* Genuine interest in mental health and well-being with a commitment to delivering Response's mission.
