Innov8 Workshops, Integ House, Rougham Industrial Estate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP30 9ND £21,000 per annum (actual salary) Full Time, Term Time only Permanent Reference: 0229 You will join a small, forward-thinking charity that uses creative, therapeutic approaches to help 5-11 year olds with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) to thrive. Working 8.30am - 4pm, Monday to Friday (school terms only), you will as a Primary Practitioner (Teaching Assistant / HLTA) design and deliver hands-on sessions that nurture each child’s academic progress, emotional wellbeing and social confidence. You’ll be backed up by our Primary Lead and a values-driven team that believes every child can succeed given the right support. What you will do Plan and run engaging interventions such as LEGO Therapy, ELSA activities, and tailored maths and English tasks. Create a safe, inclusive learning space where pupils feel seen, heard and motivated. Model and reinforce positive behaviour, using proven regulation strategies when challenges arise. Spot individual needs quickly and adapt your approach so no child is left behind. Keep meticulous safeguarding and progress records, always putting children’s welfare first. Look after resources and learning areas so they are inspiring, organised and ready to use. What you will need At least one year’s experience working with 5-11 year olds in an education setting. A recognised qualification in Play Therapy, The Thrive Approach or equivalent. Proven success supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH, including challenging behaviour. Confident IT skills and crystal-clear written and spoken communication. Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and the judgment to use it every day. It would be ideal if you have: ELSA accreditation, however training can be provided if necessary knowledge of or accreditation in OPAL or other outdoor-play programmes a good understanding of emotional regulation techniques.
