Join Our Team!
We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join our friendly Yeovil-based team and play a key role in keeping Old Mill’s finances running smoothly. If you enjoy working with numbers, building relationships, and being part of a supportive, fast-paced team, this could be a great fit.
This is a fully office-based role, so you’ll be at the heart of the action in our Yeovil office, working closely with colleagues and clients to help manage payments, process expenses, and support the wider finance function.
What You’ll Do:
As a key part of our finance team, you’ll focus on supporting our credit control processes — maintaining accurate records and following up with clients in a friendly and professional way. You’ll also support other finance admin tasks, including staff expense runs and general day-to-day finance support to keep everything running smoothly.
You’ll be involved in:
* Following up with clients around payment reminders and maintaining clear, accurate records
* Taking card payments over the phone when required
* Setting up clients on the Direct Debit system
* Processing staff expenses fortnightly and ensuring they are correctly coded
* Assisting with reconciliations, data entry, and other general finance tasks
* Liaising with internal teams and clients to gather and clarify financial information
* Providing additional support to the finance team as needed
What You’ll Bring:
You’ll be a confident communicator with a proactive, positive attitude and a genuine desire to support both colleagues and clients. Organised and detail-conscious, you’ll be happy juggling multiple tasks and working to deadlines in a busy team.
We’re looking for someone who has:
* Great communication skills and confidence when speaking to clients
* Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise
* A strong eye for detail and the ability to work accurately
* The confidence to speak to colleagues at all levels, including senior team members
* A professional, confidential approach to sensitive information
* Good IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel
* Previous experience in a finance environment (credit control experience is a big plus)
What You’ll Get:
At Old Mill, we go beyond the basics to offer a benefits package designed to support your personal and professional growth:
* Generous Holiday Allowance – Start with 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase up to 5 additional days
* Celebrate Your Birthday – Enjoy an extra day off just for you
* Employee Assistance Programme – Confidential support for your wellbeing, 24/7
* Perks and Discounts – Access to a range of discounts on everyday purchases
* Pension Scheme – A competitive contribution to help you plan ahead
