The opportunity:
Expanded Structures are the specialist reinforced concrete basement, sub and superstructure frame construction division of Laing O'Rourke and are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Cardiff.
We have been appointed as construction partner for National Grid's Great Grid Partnership programme, which forms part of a supply chain framework that will also support infrastructure projects beyond 2030.
What will the role look like?
* Managing all commercial and quantity surveying duties across allocated work packages
* Measurement, valuation, and agreement of works
* Preparation and management of interim applications and payment certifications
* Drafting, managing, and closing out subcontracts
* Monthly cost reporting and commercial forecasting
* Preparation, management, and negotiation of claims and final accounts
* Identifying, pricing, and managing change control processes
* Advising project teams on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and opportunities
* Producing contract reviews, BPR information, and management reports
* Supporting project budget establishment from contract award stage
* Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
* Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members
What skills & experience are we looking for?
* Strong NEC contract knowledge
* Proven experience in direct project delivery
* Power and/or infrastructure sector experience
* Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management)
* Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors desirable but not essential.
