Residential Support Worker

Tradewind are currently working with a specialist SEN school and residential provision in Preston, that provides high-quality education and 24-hour care for children and young people aged 8-19 with a range of complex needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties.
The on-site residential home offers a nurturing, safe, and structured environment, enabling young people to develop life skills, independence, and confidence while accessing their education in our school.
We are now looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic and resilient Residential Support Workers to join our dedicated team.
The Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people in a homely setting
Promote independence and social development through daily routines and activities
Assist with personal care, where required
Support emotional and behavioural needs with compassion and consistency
Help residents access the on-site school and participate in recreational and community activities
Work collaboratively with education staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans
Foster a safe, supportive, and positive environment at all times
About You:
We are looking for individuals who are:
Passionate about working with children and young people with additional needs
Compassionate, patient, and resilient
Flexible and able to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
Good communicators with a team-focused approach
Calm under pressure with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
Essential:
A genuine interest in SEN and/or residential care
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Basic IT skills to complete digital records and reports
Desirable (training can be provided):
NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Experience in residential care or working with children with SEN
Moving & handling, safeguarding, or first aid training
