Are you ready to lead innovation in Radiotherapy education and workforce transformation? The Berkshire Cancer Centre is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to shape the future of Therapeutic Radiography across our high‑performing service. This role focuses on strategic education and workforce transformation aligned with national frameworks and local priorities.
Based across Reading and Bracknell, you will deliver system‑level impact through high‑quality education, talent development, workforce modelling, and service redesign.
Responsibilities
* Leading the full education lifecycle — from pre‑registration to advanced practice and return‑to‑practice.
* Managing the Radiotherapy Practice Education Team and overseeing CPD planning.
* Driving recruitment, retention, and strategic workforce planning initiatives.
* Expanding clinical placements and apprenticeship opportunities in collaboration with HEIs.
* Embedding a culture of educational excellence, equity, psychological safety, and continuous professional development.
This role is ideal for a registered Therapeutic Radiographer with proven senior leadership experience in education or workforce transformation. You will bring strategic vision, resilience, and the ability to collaborate across clinical, academic, and national networks.
Qualifications
* Educated to Masters level in Education related subjects
* HCPC registration as a Therapy Radiographer
* Evidence of experience in service development and education
Desirable criteria
* Full MSc in Education
* Evidence of project management
* Ability to manage and lead effectively; significant clinical oncology experience
* Experience in teaching and facilitating the learning and development of others
* Adherence to Trust Vision and CARE values
* Experience of advanced oncology; Research multidisciplinary team working experience
* Evidence of leadership and ability to manage all staff groups effectively
* Good management and communication skills
* Research skills including scientific report writing and publications
* Extensive knowledge of oncology practice
* Advanced understanding of the clinical role of radiotherapy and service development
* Evidence of CPD
* Knowledge of education reform and service transformation
* Appropriate UK professional registration
About the department and facilities
The Berkshire Cancer Centre at the RBFT delivers Radiotherapy treatment across Reading and Bracknell. The organisation is CHKS accredited, recognising commitment to quality improvement for cancer patients.
Clinical services include two GE CT scanners, four Elekta Linear Accelerators, a superficial X‑ray unit, and a high‑dose Brachytherapy unit. There are plans for equipment replacement over the next two years, subject to capital funding. Treatment choices are underpinned by the latest national guidance, including SABR, DIBH, VMAT and Adaptive Radiotherapy. Since 2020 the department has been recognised as a "Centre of Excellence" for Surface Guided Radiotherapy in partnership with Vision RT. The workforce benefits from high‑quality equipment and strong clinical support and professional development.
