Job Title: Vehicle Inspector
Location: Heathrow
Salary: £22 - £23 per hour
Job Profile:
To carry out MOT preps, testing and periodic inspections on PSVs in accordance with DVSA regulations, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities of the Vehicle Inspector:
Conduct statutory MOT tests on PSVs to DVSA standards, completing all relevant certification and documentation accurately.
Carry out scheduled safety inspections, pre-MOT checks, and defect rectification inspections on buses and coaches.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues, advising on required repairs to maintain roadworthiness.
Maintain clear, precise records of inspections, defects found, and work undertaken to ensure full compliance with legal and company requirements.
Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated, maintained, and operated correctly.
Liaise with workshop teams and vehicle operators to schedule inspections and tests efficiently.
Assist with vehicle preparation for DVSA presentations and random roadside inspections.
Key skills and experience for Vehicle Inspector:
DVSA Nominated Tester status (Class VI (6) PSV MOT accreditation).
Proven experience inspecting and maintaining PSVs, including buses and coaches.
Good knowledge of DVSA regulations, construction and use standards, and operator licensing requirements.
Strong diagnostic skills and familiarity with vehicle inspection software and equipment.
High attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safety.
Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, management, and vehicle operators.
