We particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates. As Post 16 Lead Teacher, you will coordinate and provide education for the most disaffected young people with SEMH who cannot access mainstream Post 16 Provision, supported by the Deputy at New Park. You will be part of the SLT and will manage a small team of TAs who carry out elements of the programmes, monitoring and supporting their work as well as their personal wellbeing. You will be teaching English, Maths up to Foundation GCSE Level, and Occupational Studies with identified focal points as required. This job role requires resilience, patience and empathy. Suitable candidates will have: Teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS) A solid understanding of the requirements for Foundation English and Maths requirements and the willingness to familarise with the requirements for Occupational Studies with various focal points. A good understanding of the psychology underpinning behaviour, of attachment theory and of the trauma response. Experience in teaching students with SEN, particularly SEMH (The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year experience in a classroom environment.) Excellent behaviour management skills and ability to build positive relationships with young people and staff A commitment to high standards and the ability to inspire students with a range of needs Experience of dynamically risk assessing situations to ensure safe working practices. A clean driving licence, the use of own car with business insurance are essential for this position.
