Senior Performance and Improvement Officer
Waverley Court

Salary: £39,129 - £46,023
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

Turn data into the evidence we need to improve our services.

We are looking for a Senior Performance and Improvement Officer to join our team.

This role would suit a technical specialist who is an expert in Power BI and data modelling, but also wants to see their work used to influence real-world decisions.

In the public sector, the right data can transform how we support our community. Your job will be to lead on the technical delivery of that data with customer-facing services, ensuring our managers and senior leaders have the clear, accurate insights they need to drive the services forward.

While your primary focus is on data and performance analytics, you will be visible with the teams and engaging with services to support a culture where data is at the heart of everything we do. You will work closely with managers and external suppliers, acting as a bridge between raw information and strategic action.

Your Responsibilities

* Power BI and analytics: Lead the design, creation and maintenance of high-quality dashboards and datasets that provide a single version of the truth for our frontline services
* Evidence-based advice: Provide clear, expert advice to managers and senior leaders, helping them understand what the data is telling us and where we need to focus our efforts
* Project leadership: Manage the data-driven elements of our change initiatives, leading project teams from across the services to hit key milestones
* Strategic communications: Translate complex findings into simple, visual formats for committees and diverse stakeholder groups, ensuring your insights are accessible to everyone

Working With Us

This role offers a platform to use your technical skills for the public good. You'll have the opportunity to shape our data approach and work on meaningful projects that have a direct impact on our service delivery.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.

Happy to talk flexible working.
