Kugel Motion Ltd is an Ilkeston based engineering company specialising in the repair, servicing, and manufacture of ball screw products. With a strong reputation for precision and innovation, they offer unique solutions for linear and rotary motion systems. As part of their digital transformation, they are seeking a digitally skilled intern to help modernise key machine components that currently rely on outdated analogue technology. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to apply your electronics and digital design skills in a real-world engineering environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to analyse legacy systems, design digital replacements, and build working prototypes that will improve machine uptime and future proof operations. Key Responsibilities Analyse the current analogue counter system and document its functionality. Develop a digital twin model using modern hardware and embedded software. Build and test a working prototype with a custom-fit enclosure. Run pilot test and refine the design based on feedback. Collaborate with engineers and report progress regularly. About You This opportunity is ideal for a motivated student or recent graduate of Electronic Engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechatronics, Robotics, Embedded Systems). However, applications from all disciplines will be considered. Key Skills Understanding of analogue and digital circuits Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, PIC) Ability to design and test PCBs and prototypes. Familiarity with lab tools like multi-meters and oscilloscopes Strong problem-solving and logical thinking Good communication and teamwork skills Adaptable and eager to learn.
