Job Eligibility & Review Officer Permanent Grade 3 - £26,409 - £32,654 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week This is an exciting time to join the Children and Young Peoples’ Travel Service (CYPTS) as we have recently gone through a service redesign. CYPTS currently provide 6,000 children and young people for whom without transport provision would not be able to attend education. There is now the opportunity to join the CYPTS Team and we have a variety of roles available across the service to support the delivery of our statutory duty of providing suitable transport for eligible students, ensuring that their needs are met and promoting independence and sustainable transport. We are looking for an Eligibility and Review Officers to join CYPTS team who will report to the Application, Eligibility and Review Team Leader. You will work closely with families to assess and plan for travel support. Contributing to the provision of safe, efficient and effective travel solutions to improve outcomes for children and young people. You will provide support, consistent and thorough advice, assessment of applications and eligibility for specialist travel provision, by adhering with agreed policies and procedures. You will complete risk assessments and provide recommendations relating to the mode of travel for eligible children and young people to enable them to access education. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about being part of a service that provide services for children and young people. We are looking for someone with the following: good standard of literacy and numeracy skills knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local policies and regulations relating to providing home to school transport knowledge of Special Education Needs, Disabilities and medical conditions and mobility issues experience of the delivery of risk assessment of applications, ensuring they are correctly assessed and reviewed to ensure appropriate transport arrangements are provided experience of reviewing and understanding Education Health and Care Plans when assessing need, eligibility and potential travel provision suitability good communication to enable working with members, service providers and school establishments, SEND and parents to achieve positive outcomes experience and understanding of a first class customer service understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people with special educational need and their families experience of providing a service to a diverse range of stakeholders to promote inclusivity and access for all The role will offer hybrid working with travel across Birmingham.
