Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Physiologist / Echocardiographer to join a dynamic cardiology team. About the Role:

In this role, youll be hands-on every day, carrying out high-quality heart scans and other non-invasive tests like ECGs, Holter monitoring, and blood pressure checks. Youll create clear, accurate reports to help clinicians make quick, confident decisions about patient care. Youll work directly with patientsexplaining procedures, keeping them comfortable, and ensuring every test runs smoothly. Beyond scanning, youll help maintain equipment, support junior team members, and get involved in service improvements or audits. Its a role that mixes technical skill with patient interaction, teamwork, and opportunities to keep developing your expertise in a friendly, modern cardiac clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct and report high-quality echocardiograms and other non-invasive cardiac investigations.

Provide expert advice and support to referring clinicians.

Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to data protection protocols.

Mentor and support junior staff, contributing to training and development programs.

Participate in quality assurance, audit activities, and service improvement initiatives.

Stay current with clinical best practices and guidelines.

Skills and Expertise:

BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent.

Full Adult British Society of Echocardiography Accreditation.

Registration with HCPC or RCCP (or eligibility for registration).

Significant post-qualification experience in echocardiography and other non-invasive cardiac investigations.

Proven ability to perform and interpret a range of diagnostic tests, including:

o Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)
o Stress echocardiography (if applicable)
o ECG, Holter, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge.

Desirable Skills

Competency in advanced echocardiography modalities (e.g., TOE, contrast echo).

Experience in teaching or mentoring junior physiologists.

Understanding of current NHS and private sector service delivery models.

Experience in vascular ultrasound (e.g., carotid, venous, arterial studies) would be highly advantageous. Candidates without prior vascular experience will be supported to develop these skills, with funded training available.

IT literacy with cardiac reporting software and PACS systems.
