Positioned within the commercial team, you will be at the heart of a fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with the go-to-market team and building strong relationships with our supplier partners. As a Senior Buyer, you should have extensive buying and management experience, as you will oversee high-turnover, complex categories and lead a team of direct reports.
Your role involves supporting the development of the wider team to ensure we have a capable and motivated workforce aligned with our company vision: ‘we help everyone enjoy amazing technology’. You may also delegate tasks to the Head of Category during meetings.
You will manage categories including Print, Ink, Data Storage, Office Supplies, and Networking, requiring you to prioritize effectively across a diverse supply base.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing all category supplier relationships in accordance with our overall commercial and category strategies.
* Developing credible supplier relationships and sourcing strategies to offer customers the best ranges, ensure availability, and minimize NET cost of goods.
* Collaborating with suppliers to understand future technology roadmaps and product innovations, enabling proactive planning for customer trends and demand.
* Working with channels to create trading strategies aimed at increasing market share, especially online.
* Expanding customer adoption of the instant ink subscription across channels.
* Negotiating product ranges, including cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, and stock availability.
* Negotiating financial terms related to ranging, activity, and performance to maximize EBIT.
* Pricing products in line with category CPI targets.
* Coordinating with merchandising to forecast sales and stock turnover effectively.
* Providing regular feedback and development plans for team members to support their growth and talent pipeline.
You will need:
* Significant buying experience in FMCG, Fashion, or Hard Goods retail environments.
* Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships at various levels.
* A customer-focused mindset with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
* Proficiency with SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
* Management or leadership experience with more than one direct report.
