Job overview
The Radiology Department Assistant role consists of liaising with wards, porters and radiographers, radiologists, booking appointments, assisting with infection control procedures, ensure patients are prepared for their examinations, and getting procedural rooms ready for the day. You will also be expected to assist patients to change, replenish stock and answer telephone queries.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate compassion, care, commitment and effective communication and organisational skills. A high standard of IT, written and oral skills is essential.

This post based in the Denmark Hill site in Camberwell and offers a rotation through the radiology x-ray emergency department, in-patient and out-patient x-ray. You will be required to work 8:00-18:00 and 10:00-20:00 shifts.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As an RDA in main radiology you will have a mixture of clerical and clinical duties
* Assist radiographers in x-ray, preparing patients for imaging
* Assist patients throughout their imaging, providing support as necessary
* Assist with the manual handling of patients including lateral transfer from bed/trolley to x-ray table
* Assist with moving patients on trolleys and wheelchairs
* Input data into the department computer systems
* Liaise with other wards and departments on the phone and face-to-face
* Maintain stock and perform cleaning tasks
* Helping radiographers in the x-ray rooms as required
Person specification
Qualifications
* Proficiency in English language
Minimum score to ensure interview
* Experience working in a public facing setting
* Understands NHS infection and Prevention Control
* Experience working in a radiology setting
