An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to join our small team of Macmillan Head and Neck Cancer Nurse Specialists in the Head and Neck Department at Morriston Hospital. We are looking for a compassionate, hardworking and enthusiastic individual who has the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

If you are a highly motivated, interested in supporting head and neck patients through their treatment pathway, have experience in head and neck surgery or have relevant experience, and would like to work within a supportive team, in an innovative environment we would like to hear from you

The ability to travel between hospital sites is essential for the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome

Main duties of the job

Named Key worker (first point of contact) for all patients diagnosed with a Head & Neck Cancer. Providing the patient and families with specialist information enabling them to undertake complex decisions regarding treatment options. Acting as the main contact following diagnosis as well as before, during and after course of treatment.

Working closely with the MDT Head & Neck team, acting as a key contributor providing guidance and support to ensure high quality of patient care, also referring to and facilitating links with allied health professionals as and when required i.e. Speech and language therapists, dietician, psychologists.
