Following a re-structure within Engineering team an exciting opportunity has arisen for the new role of Head of Quality. This role is responsible for owning and embedding effective quality systems and execution across the business, ensuring that products and manufacturing processes consistently meet defined quality requirements.
The successful candidate will have a solid track record in quality management leadership within a manufacturing or safety‑critical regulated environment, with deep knowledge of Quality Management Systems, audit management and guiding teams to deliver lasting quality improvements. They will be experienced in leading internal audits, supporting external audits, and driving effective closure of non‑conformances through rigorous corrective actions and continuous system enhancement. Professional quality qualifications such as ISO Lead Auditor, CQI, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, UKAS, and internal governance.
* Oversee document control, change control, and audit programmes, ensuring consistent QMS application across all sites.
* Define and manage manufacturing quality standards, inspection regimes, and process controls to improve capability, stability, and right‑first‑time performance.
* Own the full NCR and corrective‑action lifecycle, driving structured root‑cause analysis, trend monitoring, and sustainable improvements.
* Provide operational oversight of laboratory activities, ensuring resources, equipment, calibration, and methods meet required standards.
* Ensure robust product testing execution, supporting Engineering and Compliance while managing quality impacts of product or process changes.
* Manage supplier quality requirements, documentation, NCRs, and performance reviews, supporting Procurement in mitigating supplier risks.
* Develop and report quality KPIs, dashboards, and trend analyses, providing clear inputs for management reviews and senior leadership reporting.
* Define and manage quality‑related training and competence requirements, ensuring quality‑critical roles are fully trained and evidenced.
* Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, promote a strong quality culture, collaborate cross‑functionally, and develop the quality team to meet business needs.
