Azure SQL DBA required by a not-for-profit organisation in central London with hybrid working (four days per week remote), currently undertaking an inflight cloud first programme.
Location - Central London with hybrid working (four days per week remote)
Rate – £450 to £550 + VAT per day (outside IR35)
To qualify the Azure SQL DBA will have proven hands-on Azure SQL DBA skills, a background within SQL Server database administration, excellent knowledge of SQL Server to Azure migrations and good vendor management skills.
Any knowledge of mentoring/upskilling is desirable but not essential.
The key deliverables of the assignment are:
* Lead the end to end technical migration of SQL Server workloads into Azure, in collaboration with the internal team and 3rd party.
* Assess the current SQL Server estate, identify migration blockers and create technical designs to support the workload migrations.
* Optimise performance pre‑ and post‑migration, including indexing, query tuning and execution plan analysis.
* Implement robust security, monitoring, backup/restore and DR strategies in Azure.
* Mentor and upskill the permanent SQL Server DBA, providing structured knowledge transfer, documentation and coaching.
* Collaborate with infrastructure, application and security teams to ensure a smooth transition and minimal business disruption.
* Establish operational standards, runbooks and governance for the new Azure SQL environment.
The assignment is for six months.
