The practice facilitator role is designed to develop and influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development for all nursing and HCA staff. Working with other established teams, the role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future neuroscience nursing workforce. By enhancing the quality of the learning environment, the education and training needs of health care assistants and of the full range of professional groups can also be addressed. The practice facilitator will provide support, education and development for mentors and students from both pre‑ and post‑registration education programmes, principally in the ward environment, working in a supervisory capacity across all wards and modelling the way in clinical practice areas.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are integral to clinical practice.
* Support and develop nursing staff and health care assistants through facilitation in clinical practice and promotion/implementation of relevant education and development pathways.
* Facilitate the acquisition of necessary skills, knowledge and competency by staff and their mentors within the trust.
* Act as a personal and professional role model.
* Form key working relationships with all members of the multi‑professional team, including nursing, medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers, to ensure quality service is provided at all times.
* Participate in the planning, delivery, evaluation and monitoring of patient care; audit and report on practice facilitation activities.
* Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills in a multidisciplinary setting.
* Act as an assessor within the clinical areas for staff developing new skills.
* Attend trust/local orientation programmes, mandatory training sessions and annual updates.
* Develop and maintain teaching and presentation skills; plan and organise own workload.
