TheResearch and Innovation Department is continuing its exciting expansion. Wehave several research specialities and the Research Data and Informatics Team(R-DIT) is looking for a Data Manager. This Full time post will be based atLeeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Thepost holder will contribute actively to the coordination, and delivery of theR-DIT portfolio, with a focus on the auto-immune dataset being develop throughour partnership with Arcturis. The main tasks are:
Towork with researchers from across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, theUniversity of Leeds and other partners to identify datasets required to executeresearch projects, providing a high quality of customer service.
To work with colleagues in Informatics, InformationGovernance and Research and Innovation to ensure that all necessary approvalsare received for the release of the required datasets.
Main duties of the job
Weare looking to recruit a proactive and self-motivated individual with a keeninterest in research to work within the Research Data and Informatics Team(R-DIT).
Thepost-holder will:
Providetimely and accurate information to research collaborators in a format that isreadily understood and relevant to the decision making process.
Provideregular briefings to key staff on project pipelines, workloads and anyadditional resource requirements that may be required to fulfil demand.
Instructnon-information staff in the use of health data, including guidance around itsuses, the logic and rules involved and its limitations.
Buildand maintain a productive working relationship with colleagues across corporateand operational teams within the Trust and with a wide variety of externalstakeholders from academic and industrial backgrounds.
Assist in the development of new bespoke solutions forInformation reporting. This involves taking responsibility for decisions on theconfiguration and development of databases and applications and includes thedesign and direct testing of new systems e.g. making decisions on thearchitecture, security and certifications and ensuring that all systemsdelivered comply with Trust and national data standards, data protection andany other current legislation.

Toensure a robust process is implemented and executed for Leeds TeachingHospitals to provide a data extraction service delivering accurate, tailoredinformation to meet specific needs in support of researchers requirements fora wide range of projects.
Towork with researchers from across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, theUniversity of Leeds and other partners to identify datasets required to executeresearch projects, providing a high quality of customer service.
Towork with colleagues in Informatics, Information Governance and Research andInnovation to ensure that all necessary approvals are received for the releaseof the required datasets.
Toextract and provide the required information from a range of databases toresearch teams in a timely manner for use in projects, supporting the Trustsambitions to be a leader in providing high-quality, comprehensive datasetswhich can be used to advance patient care through research.
Providing reports to colleagues in Research andInnovation and Informatics on datasets provided, the pipeline of potentialprojects and forecast workload to ensure adequate resources are available toprovide a high-quality and efficient service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent level qualification in a numerate/analytical discipline or equivalent industry experience and some amount of experience in an information management role
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development, i.e. specialist IM&T training/study/research, attendance at relevant conferences/workshops

Experience
* Substantial knowledge of data warehousing
* Expert knowledge of MS SQL server and Business Intelligence stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
* Knowledge and appreciation of, and compliance with, the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information and Caldicott
* Advanced knowledge of information management, information analysis and ICT tools, techniques and principles
* Knowledge and appreciation of data quality issues and their impact on subsequent analyses.
* Medical terminology, anatomy and epidemiology
* Patient administration and clinical coding processes
* Knowledge of processes around research approvals
* Specialist understanding of the complexities of the Trusts data management systems including the Patient Administration system and reporting systems
