Job Title: Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist
Charlton Athletic is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist / Sports Therapist to provide first response and ongoing care to players in the PGA. The role involves medical delivery and supervision, liaising with coaching staff, attending training sessions and matches, and managing injury prevention and rehabilitation programs. Key Responsibilities: Provide appropriate initial response and ongoing care to players in the PGA. Coordinate with coaching staff regarding players' injury status and availability. Attend training sessions and matches throughout the season. Arrange, lead, and perform annual medical screenings for players. Assess and manage injuries and illnesses, providing treatment and rehabilitation. Design and implement injury prevention programs tailored to individual players. Oversee treatment and rehabilitation during the off-season. Maintain records meeting standards set by The FA and relevant professional bodies. Conduct medical screenings for trialists and manage referrals to specialists. Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding physiotherapy and sports therapy queries. Ensure compliance with PGA rules and best practices for physiotherapy and sports therapy provision. Maintain cleanliness and safety of treatment areas, reporting health and safety risks. Multi-disciplinary Working & PGA Culture: Advise and guide staff on players' needs and participate in case management meetings. Educate coaches on physiotherapy and sports therapy services. Contribute to the design of PGA site emergency action plans. Perform weekly checks on medical equipment and advise on necessary actions. Provide holistic support to players, considering both injury and individual wellbeing. Operate within professional boundaries, adhering to referral protocols. Collaborate with the Safeguarding Manager to prioritize player and staff welfare. Promote personal physical and mental health as a role model. Assist with administrative activities such as injury audits. Ensure coverage for ongoing rehabilitation needs and lead injury prevention strategies. Self Development: Seek feedback and reflect on personal performance for continuous improvement. Stay updated with current research and evidence-based practices in sports injury and rehabilitation. Maintain professional qualifications and undertake CPD activities as per professional guidelines. Create and follow a Personal Development Action Plan (DAP). Utilize current performance insights to support programme and coaching development. This is a part-time role requiring work on weekends and evenings (negotiable).
