We are recruiting for the role of Head of Maintenance for a client based at London Biggin Hill Airport. Our client specializes in the operation and maintenance of helicopters used for various services, including Helicopter Emergency Medical Services, Aerial Surveillance, Training, and VIP Charter.
Additionally, our client sells helicopters and parts.
Due to internal succession planning, we seek a new Head of Maintenance to join the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the MD.
The Head of Maintenance is a UK CAA Nominated Post Holder position, providing crucial leadership for all maintenance activities.
Your responsibilities will include maintenance, modifications, and repair of Leonardo, Airbus, Bell, and Sikorsky helicopters.
You will manage base managers and support them in leading and motivating their teams.
You will collaborate with maintenance planning and logistics teams to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.
You will communicate with clients and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, working with regulators.
You will also contribute to and implement the company's strategy and plans.
Role Requirements – Head of Maintenance
* Ensure that the MRO complies with all applicable Aviation Regulations at all times.
* Ownership and management of the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE), including all relevant procedures and documentation.
* Ensure facilities used for aircraft or component maintenance meet all Aviation Regulations.
* Maintain an active maintenance man-hour plan, ensuring sufficient qualified staff to perform, supervise, inspect, and monitor maintenance in accordance with regulatory approvals.
* Ensure availability and proper use of necessary equipment and tools for the scope of work.
* Support the Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting any unsafe conditions that could impact flight safety.
* Perform and document risk assessments as needed, applying effective controls and mitigations.
The ideal candidate for the Head of Maintenance role would have:
* Experience as a Shift Manager, Base Maintenance Manager, or Head of Maintenance.
* Experience within a Part 145 MRO environment and holding the Nominated Person responsibility.
* Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with employees, customers, and peers.
* A background as a Part 66 B1.3, B2 Cat C rotary wing licensed aircraft engineer with progression into leadership roles.
* Expertise in Rotary Wing Aircraft Maintenance Management principles.
* Practical knowledge of ISO 9001 and Safety Management System principles in the MRO environment.
* Experience in managing cultural change and mentoring personnel.
* Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
