About the Role
A new opportunity has arisen for a Contentious Probate Solicitor with around 2/3 years’ PQE to join a well‑established and growing commercial litigation team in Newport. This position offers genuine variety, handling both property‑related disputes and contentious probate work, while working within a supportive, close‑knit department known for its professional excellence and collaborative culture.
You’ll manage your own caseload from day one, providing expert legal advice across landlord and tenant disputes, boundary and TOLATA claims, lease forfeiture, and property‑related litigation. The role also offers exposure to contentious probate matters, advising executors, beneficiaries, and other parties in complex estate disputes. You’ll represent clients in negotiations and proceedings, with opportunities to undertake your own advocacy where appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you will:
* Be a qualified Solicitor with at least 2/3 years’ PQE in property litigation, landlord & tenant law, or contentious probate.
* Have experience managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
* Possess strong negotiation skills and the ability to deliver commercially sound advice.
* Be highly organised, with strong communication skills and a client‑focused approach.
* Show initiative and enthusiasm for business development and departmental growth.
