As Plant Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring all plant and equipment meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational readiness. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you’ll take ownership of inspections, maintenance and repairs, keeping our fleet in peak condition and supporting the smooth delivery of projects. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will help uphold Blackwell’s values and reputation for excellence across the industry.
What you’ll be doing
5. Conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on earthworks plant, 4x4s, minibuses, and other site vehicles.
6. Record machine hours, damage, tyre wear, and apply plant ID stickers.
7. Check and maintain safety equipment (e.g., cameras, alarms, lights).
8. Inspect and replenish fluids, grease pots, and perform basic greasing.
9. Monitor tyre conditions, undercarriage wear, and Ground Engaging Tools (GET).
10. Assist with diagnostics and report issues to the Plant Desk.
11. Produce risk assessments and safe systems of work.
12. Manage stock control of fluids and maintain COSHH-compliant storage.
13. Support OEM staff with basic repairs and machine location.
14. Replace GET and cutting edges.
What We’re Looking For
15. CSCS Green Card
16. Full UK Driving Licence
17. NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance
18. CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card
19. Experience with heavy plant maintenance
20. Ability to write risk assessments and follow safe systems of work
21. CPCS A68 Plant Mover Card
22. Welding experience or qualification
23. Familiarity with Tier 1 OEM equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu)
