This is an opportunity to join a leading international legal services provider at the forefront of how legal knowledge is developed, delivered and transformed.
As a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) within the commercial contracts and data protection teams, you will collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to enhance legal insight, drive consistency and support innovation across the practice.
You will play an active role in the adoption and application of emerging technologies, including AI tools, helping to improve how legal knowledge is captured, structured and shared. This position offers the chance to contribute meaningfully beyond traditional fee-earning work, shaping best practice and supporting the evolution of legal service delivery.
The role is based in Birmingham or one of several UK regional offices, operating on a flexible, hybrid working model, with occasional travel as required.
Key responsibilities
Know-how
* Identify and circulate relevant legal developments, cases and commentary
* Keep teams informed of key regulatory and legal updates
* Respond to internal legal queries
* Review consultation papers and draft responses where required
* Provide guidance on the use of legal technology and AI tools
Research & development
* Conduct targeted legal research on complex issues
* Develop and maintain precedents, practice notes and processes
* Implement procedures to improve efficiency, compliance and best practice
* Advise on legal and compliance matters alongside risk teams
* Contribute to knowledge systems, intranet content and online resources
* Drive innovation, process improvement and due diligence initiatives
Training
* Identify and address training needs across the practice
* Mentor lawyers and support high-quality legal content creation
* Organise and deliver internal training sessions and workshops
* Produce training materials and resources
Client engagement
* Produce client-facing articles, briefings and newsletters
* Support and deliver client training programmes
* Represent the firm at external events and conferences
* Contribute to bids, tenders and client audits
Profile
Experience and skills
Technical requirements
* Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 5-7+ years' PQE
* Strong experience in commercial contracts and data protection
* Exposure to public procurement (desirable but not essential)
* Excellent IT skills and confidence using legal technology
* Prior PSL or training experience (advantageous)
