Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient (The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer and they hold all the employer’s responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations).
The Direct Payments scheme enables the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. A gentleman in Pembrokeshire is seeking a personal assistant to provide companionship and socialisation opportunities to a gentleman who suffers with FND. The gentleman enjoys video games, Anime, American football and basketball. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme.
The successful applicant should have experience or knowledge of FND ( personally or professionally ) and understand the effects on the individual and family.
Responsibilities
* Develop a reliable and trusting relationship with the person.
* General household duties – cooking, cleaning, etc.
* Support with personal care.
* Assist with toileting on bad days.
* Assist with getting dressed.
* Providing support with shopping.
* Communicate with the person’s family and wider support network.
* Support the employer to develop independent living skills.
* Provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation and providing social interaction.
* Ensure the employer’s safety at all times during working hours.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
* Be mindful of safeguarding issues and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
* Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should medical assistance be required.

* Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
* Good communicator
* Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship
Other requirements
* A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.
* You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
