Toolroom Engineer – Precision Engineering | Whitstable | £19.94–£21.99 per hour Are you an experienced Toolroom Engineer who takes pride in producing high-quality tooling and precision components? This is a great opportunity to join a well-established engineering manufacturer in Whitstable, supporting the production, improvement and maintenance of specialist tooling used across their product range. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team, working Monday–Thursday 8-4:30 and Fridays 8–1:30, creating new tooling, refurbishing existing tools, and making small-batch piece parts for NPI, samples and testing. If you enjoy hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working closely with design and manufacturing teams, you’ll feel right at home. What you’ll be doing in this Toolroom Engineer job Producing new and refurbished tooling for moulding and assembly processes Developing and improving tooling to support efficient manufacture Machining tooling and NPI piece parts to tight tolerances Working closely with design, manufacturing and process engineers Supporting process improvements and offering technical input Following all Health & Safety procedures and quality instructions What you’ll bring to this Tooling Engineer job Ideally a qualification in Engineering or maybe a time-served apprenticeship in a toolmaking environment Experience in a Toolroom environment working in a similar tooling Engineer, Technician or Toolmaker role Strong experience in mould and assembly tool manufacture Confident in machining: milling, turning, grinding, spark erosion or bench fitting Ability to work from technical drawings, CAD models and verbal instructions Knowledge of machining to exact tolerances and safe working practices Desirable additional experience in EDM (wire, hole or spark erosion) CAD/CAM experience CNC milling and turning experience could be useful Understanding of injection, transfer or compression moulding CNC or EDM programming Able to work with small batch, prototyping or model shop work Able to lead small technical projects Why this job role?
