Overview
A leading manufacturing company in South Oxfordshire are looking for a buyer / purchaser to work with the purchasing team to ensure all direct and indirect materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price. Ensure your allocated suppliers are performing to agreed KPI. Your success will ultimately be judged on how well suppliers perform and the contribution to the business bottom line, through pricing and availability of material.
Responsibilities
* Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items using appropriate MRP reports and manual requisitions.
* Negotiate lower pricing whenever possible.
* Maintenance of supplier details on the MRP system and review of supplier performance.
* Monitor supplier performance and develop improvement programmes.
* Maintain minimum stock levels against MRP requirements.
* Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on-time availability and appropriate batch sizes.
* Progress chase outstanding purchase orders in liaison with Production Control.
* Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking.
* Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory.
* Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.
Qualifications and Experience
* A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) is desirable but not essential.
* If you don\'t possess a CIPS qualification, are you willing to obtain one (which may include out-of-hours or distance learning)?
* 3 years\' experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data.
* Experience in supplier or customer management.
* Competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
* Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing.
* Possess excellent communication and assertiveness skills; flexible and reliable.
* Self-motivated and able to multi-task; able to work under pressure to meet multiple project deadlines.
* Good people skills with a strong business acumen and an analytical approach to decision-making; an effective communicator and problem solver with calmness in a crisis.
Additional Information
* This is NOT a hybrid role; 100% office based, and you need to have your own transport to get to the location in South Oxfordshire.
* Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm.
