Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. The role of the Lead Youth Worker is assisting the Chief Officer with the delivery of our targeted youth work and development of new projects as well as applying for funding. They will work with volunteers, deliver and evaluate targeted diverse youth work in group settings, in Spiral's office and other locations, promote and empower targeted and vulnerable young people to participate to gain positive outcomes in personal, social, and well-being. To reduce isolation and the effects of bullying.
The projects you will work on are:
Listen: creating 3-5 youth led videos focused on bullying, running an event and promoting the videos to local youth setting and schools.
Journey Together: Running table top games with young people in various youth settings.
Responsibilities:
To engage with young people up to the age of 25.
* Effective planning of high-quality work with young people.
* Delivery of high-quality face to face work with young people using a range of engagement methods.
* Encourage and support young people to take on active roles within the project and the community.
* Value and promote diversity and inclusion in the development and delivery of the project.
* To work within an anti-discrimination framework.
* Implement a range of informal research and consultation methods to highlight the actual experiences and/or needs of young people and have an input on how that data will be managed.
* Identify and provide young people with appropriate information, support and signposting relating to the issues that impact on their lives.
* Manage time and resources effectively.
* Work closely with the Chief Executive – keeping communication open and following the guidance provide.
* Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders within in Spiral and external.
* Work to conditions set out by partner organisations where we deliver services.
* Attend meetings and network forums as directed.
* Produce written reports, updates and high-quality risk assessments.
* Commit to continuing professional development to meet changing demands of the job and participate in appropriate training activities
* Meet the requirements set out by funders and Spiral.
* Any other reasonable duties as identified by the Chief Executive and appropriate to the level and grading of the post
* Adhere to all Spiral's Policies including, health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and undertake mandatory training as required.
Requirements:
* Minimum Level 2 Qualification in Youth Work or willing to work towards a level 3.
* Experience of developing and delivering group work
* Minimum of three years' experience of working with young people aged between 11 – 18 years.
* Working with young people from specific interest groups such as mental health services, NEETS etc.
* Ability to relate to young people.
* Experience of coordinating and delivering programmes to young people including meeting targets and deliverable outcomes.
* Ability to engage, support and motivate young people using a range of methods
* Experience of the development and delivery of participation work with young people
* Knowledge and understanding of issues facing young people
* Knowledge of regional/local networks, structures and initiatives Knowledge of government policy structures and initiatives in relation to young people
* Positive and self-driven, able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to prioritise effectively and enjoy multitasking in a busy environment.
* Commitment to, and understanding of principles of participation.
* Ability to communicate effectively and relate to a range of stakeholders, external partners, and, particularly the statutory and voluntary youth sector

Contract length: 7 months
Pay: £13.00-£14.25 per hour
