The Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies is recognised internationally as one of the leading Departments for work that focuses on the role of the unconscious mind in mental health, culture and society and the many psychosocial factors which influence our lives.
Duties of the Role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to teaching in the areas of Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at postgraduate level, supervise research students in our suite of professional doctorates and contribute to UG teaching as appropriate and required.
You will be teaching on the Graduate Diploma and MA Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy; and other MA and UG teaching and research student supervision in PPS, as required.
Qualifications and Skills required
You will be a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or have a UK equivalent. Overseas qualifications may also be acceptable.
In addition, you will possess a relevant master’s level degree in Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy, Counselling or equivalent professional experience or practice.
You will have experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potential to achieve this. Substantial experience of clinical work as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist or psychodynamic counsellor post qualification coupled with the knowledge and capacity to teach Psychoanalytic Observation and Reflective Practice are also essential.
