About the role:
Exciting opportunity to join our commercial team as a Commercial Officer supporting our business areas.
You will support the provision of commercial services across the NCC in the areas identified below. The role holder is expected to work collaboratively with the Commercial Lead and Sector Teams, using their judgment to identify high-risk items and escalate as appropriate.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that exposure to contractual risk is appropriately managed within relevant Sector Teams.
This is a relatively junior role, so some related experience is required, but training and upskilling will be provided.
Team Specific Activities:
1. Supporting the Commercial Lead to develop sector-specific Commercial Roadmaps to ensure that commercial risk is managed effectively.
2. Supporting Sector Teams in reviewing and negotiating contractual terms related to projects.
3. Implementing and supporting contract management processes.
Supporting the Commercial Teams Capability Lead for specific processes, including but not limited to:
* Export control, UK Export regulations, licence applications, ITAR, and EAR compliance.
* Regulatory compliance such as GDPR, Subsidy Control, and Intellectual Property requirements.
What you'll be doing:
* Managing contracts that do not use standard NCC Ts and Cs, including research projects, collaboration agreements, NDAs, grant letters, etc.
* Communicating commercial policies to Sector Teams.
* Finding pragmatic solutions to commercial issues that arise.
* Supporting the development of the Commercial Strategy.
* Acting as Commercial Officer for selected Sector Teams.
* Developing Commercial Roadmaps for Sector Teams.
* Supporting Project Managers by tracking deliverables and deadlines.
What we look for in your application:
* Some experience in a similar role focusing on contract management; backgrounds like Paralegal or Law degree with relevant experience are suitable.
* Experience reviewing and advising on contracts and commercial documents.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Personal skills of proactivity, curiosity, eagerness to learn, and ability to balance risk management with working at pace are valued.
