Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per year

As part of their continued growth and technical modernisation, they’re looking for an experienced developer to help maintain and evolve their bespoke internal systems.
The Role
We’re looking for a Programmer / Software Engineer.
This is a hands-on, varied position where you’ll maintain and enhance the company’s bespoke business software built in the Universe (Pick-based) environment.
You’ll collaborate closely with internal users and the wider IT function to keep systems running smoothly and introduce improvements that help the business work more efficiently.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Develop and maintain bespoke in-house software (Universe / Pick environment).
• Collaborate with users to identify issues and deliver practical improvements.
• Support integrations between legacy systems and newer technologies.
• Help with data backups, monitoring, and general system maintenance.
• Liaise with third-party providers when required.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Experience programming in Pick/Universe or a similar MultiValue environment (UniData, D3, jBASE, etc.).
• Strong understanding of database-driven business systems.
• Confident problem-solver who can work independently.
Desirable:
• Exposure to IT support or infrastructure management (Windows Server, networking, firewalls).
• Experience with C#, web administration, or system integrations.
• Background in a manufacturing or production setting.
• Familiarity with ERP or bespoke business systems.
