Job Title: Mechanical Commissioning & installation engineer
Sector: Biotech Systems and waste management
Location: Trowbridge HQ (must be within 1 hour’s drive)
Travel: UK-wide, approx. 25% of your time
Salary: Up to £58,000 + travel expenses + company vehicle
The Opportunity
Join a pioneering BioTech company at the forefront of clean technology innovation. We’re scaling a proprietary system that’s rewriting the rules of waste-to-energy—and we need a hands-on engineer to lead the charge on-site.
This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be the first boots on the ground, installing, commissioning, and servicing breakthrough systems across the UK. There’s no manual—because you’ll be writing it. You’ll troubleshoot, adapt, and shape the future of our tech in real time.
If you’ve worked in biotech, clean-tech, recycling, or large plant environments, your experience will translate perfectly. But above all, we’re looking for someone who thrives on variety, autonomy, and the thrill of solving problems no one’s solved before.
What You’ll Do
• Lead installation and commissioning of proprietary systems at client sites
• Diagnose issues, write manuals, and become the go-to expert
• Train customer teams and internal staff
• Support R&D and sales with testing, feedback, and product evolution
• Contribute to design reviews, safety assessments, and upgrade strategies
• Travel across the UK for 2–21 day assignments (vehicle provided)
• Shape documentation, service reports, and technical guidance
Initial Projects Include:
• New system installs in Derbyshire and Devon
• Refurbishment of legacy units
• Engineering development and testing
What You’ll Bring
• Proven experience in installation and commissioning (essential)
• Background in electro-mechanical systems and large machinery
• Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and manufacturing drawings
• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Familiarity with RAMs, cloud-based reporting, and remote access tools
• Willingness to travel and adapt to changing site demands
• Confidence to work independently and write your own playbook
Team & Culture
You’ll join a tight-knit UK team backed by project managers, senior leadership, and a network of technical partners. We value initiative, collaboration, and a customer-first mindset. You’ll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and help shape the systems that scale our business.
Benefits:
• 25 days holiday + bank holidays
• Birthday off
• 8 weeks paid sick leave
