We currently have one (1) Fixed Term, Full Time vacancy available for immediate filling for a period of up to 60 months (5 years).

A Pool will also be running for a period of 12 months.

About the role

This position will coordinate the Present-Day Ecosystems project based at Exmouth Gulf, focussed on understanding extant marine biodiversity. The successful applicant will consult and co-create research aims with Traditional Owners, conduct a meta-analysis of existing faunal knowledge to identify gaps focussed on WA Museum marine collections, supervise fieldwork logistics, and integrate new collections and metadata through targeted sampling.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who has experience managing remote marine fieldwork, conducting Collections-based research, and wants to make a difference to a renewed understanding of marine diversity in Exmouth Gulf.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

1. Engage with Aquatic Zoology staff to develop impactful Science to improve knowledge of marine systems.
2. Work independently and manage complex fieldwork logistics in remote settings to sample new areas and diverse specimens of Exmouth Gulf.
3. Develop new collections and share metadata of existing collections through efficient workflows and staff management.
4. Liaise with committees for project updates, communicate findings with relevant bodies, and publish peer-reviewed research outcomes.
