Head of Surgical Services
Full time, Permanent - Central London
Up to £85,000 depending on experience
As the Head of Surgical Services, you will be responsible for the clinical, professional, and financial performance of Theatres, Recovery, and Endoscopy, including the day-to-day operational management of these areas. The hospital has 6 operating theatres and you will be reporting into the Chief Nursing officer.
You will work closely with Consultants and Medical Staff to promote safe, effective practices and improve theatre utilisation. Supporting the Endoscopy Lead, you will help achieve JAG accreditation and take ownership of developing and expanding the Endoscopy service.
You will foster a proactive, patient-centred culture that prioritises safety and complies with regulatory standards while also supporting staff development across your areas of responsibility.
Roles and Requirements:
* Provide professional leadership and management across all theatres, endoscopy, and recovery services, ensuring appropriate structures are in place to support nurses and theatre practitioners at all levels.
* Develop and implement systems and processes to support an efficient and effective patient journey through all surgical services.
* Evaluate and develop policies and procedures aligned with patient safety, quality standards, and hospital-wide guidelines, while promoting staff accountability and adherence.
* Ensure robust systems are in place for managing, monitoring, and auditing quality standards, complaints, critical incidents, and untoward events.
* Lead on the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) agenda within surgical services, working closely with the Hospital IPC Lead Nurse.
* Liaise with external contractors, including those responsible for decontamination and ventilation, to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Experience:
* Must be an either registered nurse (RN) or ODP (HCPC)
* Relevant surgical experience
* Significant senior experience in a multi theatre environment
