Join Lucideon as a Computational Modeller! About Us Lucideon is a leading materials development and commercialisation organisation, driving innovation across global industries and supporting the creation of next‑generation technologies. Through the Midlands Industrial Ceramics Group (MICG) and £18.27 million in Strength in Places funding, we are pioneering new approaches in advanced ceramics, digital manufacturing, and computational modelling. Purpose of the Role This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of computational materials science-pushing boundaries, solving complex industrial challenges, and shaping the future of advanced ceramics. As a Computational Modeller, you will contribute to cutting‑edge research across multiple workstreams, including modelling sintering processes, kiln environments, stress development, crack formation and propagation, and the creation of digital twins for real‑world manufacturing. You’ll join a dynamic, forward‑thinking team committed to driving transformational change in materials and process innovation. Key Responsibilities • Develop and enhance Lucideon’s material and process modelling capabilities using COMSOL and other finite element tools. • Create bespoke models and contribute to the development of innovative modelling platforms. • Work closely with industrial and academic partners to build models that support manufacturing process optimisation. • Interpret modelling outputs to help solve complex engineering and materials challenges across the sector. • Act as a champion for computational modelling-helping clients and partners understand its technical and financial benefits. • Support the development of digital twins focused on sintering and ceramic production processes. About You You will ideally hold an MSc or PhD in a science or engineering discipline, with experience in computational modelling or materials processing. You’ll bring strong technical capability in finite element analysis—preferably with COMSOL—and experience in areas such as thermal, mechanical, electrical (AC/DC), or multiphysics simulation. You will also bring: • A solid understanding of materials science (experience in advanced ceramics is an advantage). • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both specialists and non‑specialists. • A passion for collaboration with industry and academia. • An ability to build strong, trusting relationships with clients and partners. Core Features & Benefits This is a permanent position based onsite at our facilities in Stone, Staffordshire, where collaboration and teamwork drive our success. You’ll also benefit from: • 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday • Private Medical Insurance • Medical Cash Plan • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (including Christmas shutdown) • Pension scheme (with Life Assurance up to four times basic salary) Ready to advance the future of materials science through computational modelling?
