Job Overview
Provide highly skilled physiotherapy assessment, education, advice, and treatment to outpatients referred by G.Ps & F.C.Ps, covering musculoskeletal or arthritic conditions and acute, chronic or complex spinal pain. Supervise clinical students during placement.
Main Responsibilities
* Perform specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations, including complex physical and psychological conditions.
* Hold responsibility for own caseload with indirect supervision. Supervision includes formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review. Advice and support from a senior physiotherapist is available if required.
* Carry out all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
* Supervise, mentor and assess physiotherapy students to graduate standard, ensuring practice and teaching meet university standards.
* Undertake evidence‑based audit projects to enhance personal and team clinical practice across the service.
* Participate in formal research projects.
* Contribute to ongoing service development in conjunction with senior colleagues.
* Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own clinical practice.
* Conduct comprehensive assessment and formulate individual or group treatment programmes, employing exercise, manual therapy, electrotherapy or other modalities.
* Evaluate patient progress, reassess, and alter treatment programmes as required.
* Develop clinical diagnoses, prognoses, recommendations and comprehensive discharge plans.
* Operate safely with electrotherapy equipment, gym equipment and appliances.
* Work in the community setting, including lone working with telephone support from a senior physiotherapist if needed.
Working for Our Organisation
Hillingdon MSK Physiotherapy Service is part of the Trust’s Outpatient MSK Physiotherapy clinics within Hillingdon borough. Clinics are located at GP surgeries, health centres and community clinics. Preferred candidates are full‑time, HCPC registered and willing to work at any of the three sites, including evenings.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
* HCPC registration.
* Significant experience at junior level covering all basic rotations.
* Previous experience in Outpatient Musculoskeletal conditions.
* Previous NHS or equivalent experience.
Skills and Knowledge
* Good written communication in English.
* Evidence of Musculoskeletal CPD.
* Clinical audit skills.
* Interest in clinical audit / evidence‑based practice / quality improvement projects.
* Ability to work with distressed or aggressive patients.
* Flexible approach to work practice and service needs, prepared to work in any location.
* Strong listening and reflecting skills.
* Team worker.

* Car driver/owner.
* Working knowledge of Clinical Governance issues.
