Offer description

This post is a key role as part of a new 24/7 Mental Health First Response service, serving as the first point of contact for individuals requiring urgent mental health support through the GMMH 24/7 Trust helpline/111.

The Mental Health Practitioners will be registered mental health professionals providing effective support to callers experiencing a mental health crisis. Responsibilities include triage, risk assessments, and brief psychosocial interventions. Working via telephone and video calls, they will offer compassionate emotional support and promote self-management of emotional distress when appropriate.

Practitioners must recognize when a caller needs more support than can be provided remotely, such as a crisis mental health assessment or ongoing care, and confidently coordinate with relevant clinicians, services, or organizations to facilitate this.

The role involves working with individuals of all ages (Children and Young People, Adults, Older People) experiencing a mental health crisis via telephone triage. As part of a multidisciplinary team, MH First Responders will conduct initial assessments, provide information, support, signposting, and advice.
