This is an exciting opportunity to be the lead Training and Education executive in the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT) in support of the 1-Star Military Commandant.�
DCTT is a tri-Service organisation delivering technical and management training to Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force personnel in the domains of Marine, Electro-Mechanical, Communications & Information Systems and Aeronautical Engineering. The DCTT schools are geographically distributed at sites in Gosport, Blandford Forum, Cosford and Lyneham, with the Headquarters (HQ) principally based at Lyneham. Hybrid working has enabled staff to work at a range of locations subject to the business need.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The Head of the Training Management Group (TMG) is a Principal Lecturer post that sits within the College HQ, advising the Commandant and providing direction and guidance on training delivery strategy and operations across the Defence schools. The post is a Grade 7-equivalent Civil Service post but is a retained grade within the Burnham Lecturer group and as such subscribes to the Teachers� Pension Scheme.�
The role responsibilities are detailed in the attached Terms of Reference and, in brief, are to:�
1. Act as the DCTT lead Trainer in the College HQ, advising the Commandant and schools on training matters for a range of projects and at command boards.
2. Provide a Training Delivery Authority interface with the training Requirement Authorities and Training Providers to manage the training demand at an operational and strategic level.
3. Provide a Training Assurance function to ensure compliance with the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and drive continuous improvement activity.
4. Direct and cohere the adoption of Technology Enhanced Learning across DCTT through the provision of TEL strategy, pan-College forums, enabling contracts and other support mechanisms.
5. Drive training transformation by investigating training innovation, directing projects that provide business insight, conducting trials and implementing change.
6. Perform a people-management function for the 12-person strong mixed Military and Civil Service TMG staff.
7. To lead the Burnham Lecturer (BL) population within DCTT, providing support to BL Head of Profession.

Person specification
Significant experience in a senior leadership and management role in a training environment.
