Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a PRACTICE NURSE to work as part of our skilled and dedicated team. Experience of nursing within General Practice, including long term condition management, is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
This is a part-time role of 16hrs per week to include a Monday 9.00am - 5.00pm and one other day to be negotiated. We value teamwork, mutual support and a friendly working environment.
Main duties
To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to the GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will (in time and with training where necessary) include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced practice nurse and any additional roles agreed between the nurse and the Partners as appropriate
About Us
We are a large practice operating over two sites. Our clinical team includes GPs, Paramedic Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants. We have an extensive team of management and administrative staff. We also have some attached staff employed through our Primary Care Network, including a Frailty team, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Physiotherapists.

Job Description / Responsibilities
* Administration of childhood and adult vaccinations
* Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes, facilitating change by providing assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise
* Interest in Long term condition management
* Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework and other quality indicators as appropriate
* Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests
* Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
* Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines including the use of doppler
* Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
* Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness
* Assist patients to identify their health needs, incorporating the use of care plans
* Removal of sutures
* New patient medicals
* Urinalysis
* Performing ECGs & 24 hour Blood Pressure readings
* Hypertension management
* Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
Other Tasks / Duties Including
* Maintaining own nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment including refrigeration and emergency equipment
* Undertake housekeeping duties including general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Attend and participate in practice meetings when required
* On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
* Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness and common sense
Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience - Essential: Experience of working within a nursing team. Desirable: Experience of working in a GP practice; Diabetes Management Experience.
Qualifications - Essential: Registered General Nurse. Desirable: Qualifications/certificates in Nurse prescribing, Cytology, Diabetes and Immunisations.
