Job Overview
We are recruiting for a Band 8a Psychologist position working in our Liaison Mental Health Teams, part of our redevelopment of psychology services in the Urgent Care Pathway.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Nurses, Medics, and Allied Health Professionals at our acute hospitals in Shropshire, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Responsibilities include working directly and indirectly with service users presenting with mental health difficulties, conducting assessments, formulation, brief interventions, consultation, staff well-being initiatives, team formulation, and training. This role maintains close links with other psychology colleagues within the pathway, including Inpatients, Crisis/Home Treatment, and Liaison Mental Health teams. The team comprises Practitioner Psychologists, Trainee Associate Psychologists, and Assistant Psychologists, with potential for expansion.
Main Duties
1. Provide specialist clinical psychology services within the Urgent Care service to adults, their families, or carers, including home visits as needed.
2. Communicate complex information effectively in emotive situations and address psychological resistances.
3. Conduct psychological interviews, interpret data, and provide feedback sensitively.
4. Perform risk assessments and manage risks professionally.
5. Offer expert formulation and psychological interventions based on assessments.
6. Develop and implement treatment plans employing evidence-based methods across various care settings.
