Role Overview:
Due to an upcoming retirement, we are seeking an experienced Manual Turner to join their skilled team. The role involves working with large components, typically ranging from 1 to 3 metres in diameter and made from various materials.
There will also be opportunities to work on CNC lathes, with training provided for those interested in developing their skills.
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM; Friday, early finish at 4:00 PM
Contract: Full-time, 39.5 hours per week
Overtime: Available at enhanced rates (double time Sundays, time and a third midweek, time and a half Saturdays) with early starts when overtime is scheduled
Key Responsibilities:
* Operating manual lathes to produce one-off parts and small batches (typically 1-30 pieces)
* Manufacturing components that vary from roughing to high-precision parts
* Supporting other manufacturing cells as required to ensure smooth production flow
* Handling large components, often requiring the use of overhead cranes
* Demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to supporting the team and business needs
Person Specification:
* Experience working with large components and an understanding of manufacturing large parts
* Comfortable and experienced in using overhead cranes for handling heavy materials
* Flexible, team-oriented, and willing to chip in wherever needed
* Good understanding of machining processes, with an eye for quality and accuracy
* Willingness to learn CNC lathe operations (training provided)
