Examinations and Administrative Officer

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only (+2 additional days re Examinations in August)

Salary: Grade 7 £31,022 x 88.6%

A post has arisen for a flexible and enthusiastic Administrative and Examinations Officer, based at Ty Gwyn Education Centre.

Ty Gwyn Education Centre is a secondary age Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in a newly refurbished building in the Aberdare area, serving the whole of RCT and learners from age 11 to 16 years.

Ty Gwyn Education Centre offers specialist provision for up to 60 learners with behavioural, emotional and social needs that cannot be met in their mainstream school. There is a growing emphasis on developing learner wellbeing and mental health and Ty Gwyn is a Trauma Informed School with a growing team of therapeutic support staff.

As Administrative and Examinations Officer, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and telephone calls, based in the reception area of Ty Gwyn. The role involves contact with parents and carers, external contractors and the wider school staff, providing secretarial support and overseeing budget and financial matters. A high level of organisational skills, attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously is essential. A knowledge of SIMs applications, reports and data usage is a significant part of the role as is responsibility for examination entries, including learners from the Tuition Service within Ty Gwyn, collating and downloading information and preparing results for distribution.

Ty Gwyn Education Centre is making progress after a challenging year, external examination results have improved on the previous year and standards of teaching and learning and the management of relationships are continuing to improve under a strengthened leadership and TLR team.
